Dr Sally Simmons joined the Practice in 2017 as Clinical Director. She qualified as a doctor from Peninsula Medical School (University of Exeter) in 2007. Prior to this, she served nearly 25 years in both the Royal Navy and the British Army as a Nursing Officer, with operational tours in the Falklands War (1982) and Northern Ireland (1996 and 2001).

General practice training in Exeter included a year as an Academic Fellow. Dr Simmons subsequently worked as a portfolio GP in diving medicine, pre-hospital care with BASICs as well as out of hours work in mid-Devon.  

Dr Simmons’s main interests are emergency medicine, diving and hyperbaric medicine, and integrating the various strands of healthcare on the island for an effective delivery of health and social care to all islanders. She is also one of the 3 Chief Medical Officers for the Isle of Man TT and is the Diving Medical Adviser to the Bailiwicks of Jersey and Guernsey.

Outside of work, Dr Simmons is married with a son. She enjoys sailing, diving and riding motorbikes. On quiet days she reads.
